WinterStorm Rock Weekender
Saturday 30th of November is St Andrew's Day - a (notional) national holiday and celebration of Scotland's patron Saint so we hope to stitch in wee bits and pieces of culture through the day with a hint and a tint of tartan here and there!
Anyway the programme is now pretty much in place for the Saturday and this is where we're at. Keep checking the website (it works well on mobile too!) right through to the event and beyond
The now annual beach clean tends to attract a different number depending on both the weather and severity of hangovers! However if you wish to register we've still got some spaces and we'd be delighted to see you there. We have a limited number of WinterStorm Reduce Single T-Shirts to hand out too. First come first served. Clearly dress for the occasion and we provide the bags and litter pickers. It'll be for around an hour or as long as you can take the WinterStorm weather - every little helps and we'll give you a wee voucher for a coffee and Sailor Jerry Rum for afterwards!
The meeting point is the Memorial Bench behind the Concert Hall on the promenade.
For the first time we'll actually have the giant deckchair on the beach for photographs. It'll be in place for the Beach Clean starting and will stay until early afternoon. Great for a wee photo opportunity and if you;re lucky you might catch some bands in it too!
We've commissioned our own work of art this year and we believe the memorial bench is a lasting tribute not just to the memory of lost musicians but our own absent friends too. It's not an unveiling, we're not anointing it; we're just sort of noting it! However we are noting it in style!
Temple of the King has become a staple closure to WinterStorm with Glen White McManus and the song and its sentiment has resonated beyond the four walls and now it has a permanent placement on the beach front behind Troon Concert Hall.
Join us on the beach front before doors open with the Troon Blackrock Pipe Band who will play a short set before Doogie White and guests will perform an acoustic version of Temple of the King and maybe another tune or two before the Pipe Band lead you round to the doors for opening at midday.
Doors open at midday and you'll be welcomed into the hall by the sounds of the Troon Blackrock Pipe Band before we crank up the volume and Tom Russell opens the proceedings - stage times below for both stages
As ever we want you to stay right til the end and this year more than ever. The temptation may be to go and catch that last train but we want your voices to join with our very own House Band - Glen White McManus and their own very special guests (and there are some cracking guests this year!)
The finale is always special and this year we hope even more so and we need the WinterStorm Choir to give it laldy (ask a local for a translation) as we video and record the ending for posterity! Please ensure you're there with us til the end
We've nothing planned for the end of the night but that has never stopped impromptu performances in the past! The Sessions Room will remain open until 2am for those with the energy!
