WinterStorm Rock Weekender
Updated 10th November 2024
WinterStorm has released the final tranche of its tickets for this years events with their brand new Evening Session tickets.
This option offers those who cannot commit to a full day of the festival - or even some rock newbies - and offers a great value £40 ticket for each night that includes access to both the main and second stage from 7pm, as well as the whole WinterStorm rock festival vibe, full catering and tow bars with a dozen craft ales and more!
Tickets are available only from Skiddle for these tickets and there are less than 50 available of each.
We have sold more than 70% of the available tickets but still want to get to that elusive and totally satisfying SOLD OUT mark. Please share this page with anyone who you think would benefit from a little bit of seaside rock in their lives!
Tickets are traditional physical tickets and all have now been mailed out
All remaining tickets for WinterStorm 2024 are now on general sale including:
The line up and day splits have now been announced for both stages with thirty five acts across three days and two stages.
The Stage Timings will be published on Sunday 9th of October
Our accommodation packages have proved incredibly popular once again. Should you be unable to secure one of these, there are plenty of other great options in Troon and the surrounding areas. Ayrshire has an abundance of accommodation available in November, from basic to luxury and we will be publishing direct links to a number of accommodation providers next week.
The rail connections to Irvine, Prestwick and Ayr all open up a number of options within a couple of stops, and additionally, rooms in Kilmarnock are less than a fifteen minute drive away. Ayrshire is a recognised tourism destination and there are plenty of rooms close to the town.
WE have created an accommodation page that features some of the may properties at all price points for those visiting the area. We have also created a travel information section for visitors from Europe and the Rest of the UK.
This section has been left for information
We put out the shortest questionnaire in rock history. One single question - Two days or three?
We truly expected an overwhelming move back towards two days but couldn't have been more wrong. With three hundred responses there were three votes in it with statistical error basically saying the vote was completely split. So we have listened to both arguments.
It was tiring but that clearly hasn't bothered half of you! But we can and will alleviate some of the issues of those who preferred two days. A working compromise we think!
Doors 3.00pm | First band 5.00pm | Last Band finished 11pm
We are moving to a later first band but will be opening for food, drink and music on the opening day - and you can rest assured that we are going to blow the bloody doors off with a major band to open the whole weekend.
The later time allows hotel and accommodation bookings to get to accommodation and check in before heading to the venue. The earlier closing time is related to the fall off of audience numbers after 11pm and takes into account last train times as we did previously.
There will still be two stages and feature the same mix of genres as before.
Doors 11.00am | First band 12.30pm | Last Band finished 11pm
The early opening is no disincentive to anyone and the reactions of Gin Annie, Lyin' Rampant and Cassidy Paris are testimony to the fact that you are music fans first and foremost. To have queues outside on a freezing cold wet Thursday afternoon and almost 500 in for the first bands is truly amazing. We won't change that.
We are committed to pushing on with the no clashes between stages and although slippage happens it meant more people seeing more acts than ever before.
The earlier finish continues into the Friday too to allow greater recovery time!
Doors 11.00am | First band 12.30pm | Last Band finished 11pm
Pretty much the same as the Friday but we are looking to reinstate the early morning beach activities again in 2024 for those who are fit for beach cleans and crazy golf!
This is St Andrew's Day so we will do our best to mark our national day appropriately!
"Hoisted by our own petard" - Shakespeare you know! - comes to mind every time we mention release dates for line ups!
We intended to work towards January 31st 2024 as the first unveil if you like moved it to Valentine's Day and then gave ourselves some breathing space. It is not getting any easier but we are there now!
We shall at all times continue to keep you updated as much as possible primarily via the website and linking to this page from Facebook and regular email newsletters.
2023 was labelled WinterStorm | Legends and Legacies - it also had the sub strapline Three Days; Two Stages; One More Time...
The statement was deliberately ambiguous as our future in the venue was far from stable for a number of reasons many of which actually still remain but we do have dates in place for the next three years which should take us to 2026 and the tenth anniversary of WinterStorm. So there will be three more times at least and it ensures that 2024 sees the start of The Next Chapter.
The Next Chapter?
It covers a whole host of things that we have been working on since the beginning of last year but we hope that the creativity of an extended team will allow WinterStorm to survive external economic and social factors that could be described without overstatement as existential within the independent music promotion space.
Venues are under threat, buyer expectations are shifting, bands are not unreasonably looking for more and touring less, and the marketplace, somewhat inexplicably, just gets more and more crowded arguably splitting the already finite amount of money music fans can spend. It also makes the creation of line ups all the more challenging!
Competing events do not help and for us, even this early, 2024 perhaps brings the biggest date clash we have had so far with Glasgow gigs. It is however the beauty of the music market place, accept the circumstances and embrace the fact that there's little we can do other than put on another great show by the seaside and hope you turn up!
So that's the downside! Here's our more optimistic vision!
None of this is new to WinterStorm and we will continue to do what we have always done.
