WinterStorm 2025 sells fifty percent of tickets in advance sales

17/02/2025

Scottish independent rock festival sells 50% of capacity “blind”.

More than 420 advance ticket sales sold for WinterStorm in Ayrshire.

Release Date | 18th February 2025

WinterStorm – Scotland’s annual festival of Rock at the end of November – has smashed its previous advance sales total in January with more than 400 tickets sales without naming a band! The annual pre-sale for the three day rock event in Troon on the west of Scotland is offered to previous ticketholders and comes with a unique Line Up Refund Guarantee that ensures that anyone not entirely happy with the line up gets a no questions asked refund!

Festival organiser, Ian McCaig, of Plan B Events, takes the story up,

“Selling tickets without a line up was something that never sat easy with us but we had fans wanting to secure their accommodation and needed to buy their tickets first so very early on in the cycle we decided that if they trusted us then we should trust our customers too and the Refund Guarantee was born – buy a ticket and after we announce the line up there’s a two week window for a full refund. The result now is that we have sold just a shade under 50% of the three days ticket capacity in January. It’s a great reflection on the experience that we have tried to create with WinterStorm over the years and so good for the area’s tourism profile to see that once again almost 40% of the tickets have been sold to music fans from outside of Scotland.”

The line up for the three days event is shaping up and as ever features a wide and diverse selection of classic rock, blues, melodic and of course the obligatory appearance of the legendary artistes from the old NWOBHM days and beyond! The two stages offer up the very best of recognisable names from across the world of rock blended with some of the very best up and coming artistes.

This is year nine of WinterStorm and while it has been a difficult decade in which to build a rock festival, the beautiful location on Scotland’s west coast, a superb two stage old school concert hall venue, a mini beer festival with up to two dozen different casks on offer, our own Scottish Kitchen and great hotels, bars, restaurants and boutiques right on the venue’s doorstep has meant that for many it is now an annual pre Christmas escape.

Local MSP Siobhian Brown emphasised the benefits to the local economy,

“WinterStorm has become a cornerstone of the Troon community whilst bringing massive economic benefits to the town and wider area. From its humble beginnings in 2016, this event has gone from strength to strength attracting thousands and providing a unique platform for both established and emerging talent. The incredible support from the local community, whether through their volunteering efforts, their local suppliers, or their warm hospitality plays a pivotal role in its ongoing success.

“Beyond the musical experience, WinterStorm has boosted tourism, with visitors flocking to Troon, filling local hotels, and contributing to the local economy. As we look forward to the 2025 event and beyond, WinterStorm’s growth speaks volumes about the power of collaboration and the cultural impact a truly dedicated team can achieve. I’m proud that Troon is home to such an internationally recognised event that showcases the very best of our music and hospitality. I wish them every success for the future.”

The line-up will be announced – and the remaining tickets offered - to the WinterStorm mailing list at the beginning of March with the public sale tickets then going on sale immediately after. Rock fans interested in receiving the information first can sign up to the newsletter below.
